hOW TO PLAY

1

• Place the Image card deck face-down, and set aside the Prompt and Reflection cards for later.

• In each turn, one player is the MemoryTeller and the other players are Listeners.

• The MemoryTeller draws 4 Image cards randomly.

2

• Pick 1 of the four cards that evokes a real memory.

• Return the remaining three cards to the deck.

• Show the card you picked to the group, and share your story within 2 mins.

Tip: If your mind goes blank, draw one Prompt card to evoke some memories!

3

• Each Listener asks a question about the story. The goal of the questions is to help the group know the MemoryTeller a bit more as a person.

Tip: Listeners can choose to share a comment if they can't think of a question.

4

• Place the Image card in the center of the table.

• Have a conversation as a group to decide: What are the 3 most important themes that capture the gist of this story?

• Write down the 3 themes on sticky notes and place them on the Image card.

5

• Take turns clockwise to be the MemoryTeller.

• Decide as a group: Does this story connect with any other stories we have heard so far?

Tip: The connection could be a shared theme or an overarching theme.

Once all players have taken a turn, each player draws 1 Reflection card and asks the group the questions on their cards. Celebrate all you learned about each other!

Tip: Take a picture of all the cards your group used at the end of each round, and let it become part of your new shared memory! #MemoryKaleidoscope.

Try These Challenging Variations!

Variation I

The MemoryTeller no longer selects the Image card. Instead of the MemoryTeller choosing their own cards, have the Listener to the right of the MemoryTeller choose a single Image card for them.

Variation II

The last MemoryTeller from the previous round draws a new Image card for the group. Everyone shares a story based on the same chosen image.

Variation III

Develop your own set of rules and be sure to share them! #MemoryKaleidoscope
